On Tuesday 21st May, Miss Wilks took five gifted and talented children to Sower by Bride High School for a business enterprise event with other schools in the area.
Enterprise encourages all young people to learn and develop in a way that meets their needs and develops skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work.
Children participated in a range of business focused activities that provided opportunities for learners to develop skills such as problem solving, decision making and evaluating risks. It also provided entrepreneurial experiences by giving opportunities for learners to think and act in an enterprising way and encouraging team work with peers.
1. Recognising business trademarks and logos
2. Challenge - Building a free standing structure with marshmallows and bamboo skewers
3. Challenge - Make the most profit from paper boxes. Each group were given 1x paper, 1x scissors, 1x cello tape and 1x ruler. Children had to make a 5cm x5cm paper box. Each box made would make 10. If the group needed any more resources they would be charged 5 per item. Each team had to think about the cost efficiency of the boxes, how they could make the profit and what everybody's role was.
Hamdi's team were victorious as they managed to make a profit of 210.
